The Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda of the Government of Aragon and Aquara meet to promote the Sustainable Development Goals in the territory
The objective was to generate synergies to promote compliance with the 2030 Agenda in Aragon
Generating synergies to promote the achievement of the 2030 Agenda in Aragon has been the objective of the meeting held between the Government of Aragon and Aquara, an Aragonese company specialized in water cycle management that has also just published its first report on Sustainable Development.
The Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda in the Government of Aragon, Fermín Serrano; the manager of Aquara, José Ignacio Heredero and the managers of Sustainable Development and Communication of Aquara, Pilar Capablo and Ana Pilar Morillo, respectively, participated in the meeting that took place today, July 30, at the offices of Aquara.
During the meeting, Fermín Serrano shared the lines of work of the Sustainable Development Strategy of the Autonomous Community, as well as the main projects in the field of water, digital innovation and circular economy, such as 'Ebro 2030' linked to the legacy of the Expo 2008 and the contribution to SDG 6 'Clean water and sanitation' and focused on the development of green and socially sustainable economies in the region.
For his part, José Ignacio Heredero, has explained Aquara's management strategy based on Digitization, innovation, Sustainability and Social Commitment and from which his Sustainable Development plan was born, aligned with the five axes established by the United Nations : People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Alliances. "We have organized our contribution in the territory around the five axes and we have set ourselves concrete and measurable objectives for the future," said José Ignacio, who highlighted the importance of alliances such as the one Aquara has recently forged with the Spanish Network of Global Compact joining it.
In addition, the role that the company has played during an alarm state has been valued. "As an essential service, we have focused our efforts on ensuring the water supply to the population and preserving the health of our workers and customers," added the manager. For this, Aquara established the modelo adapted operation ’model with independent work teams for the tasks carried out in supply and sanitation networks, given that the characteristics of this activity require face-to-face work. Likewise, direct and indirect contact between operators was abolished and the activity of people over 60 years old or who were part of the risk groups established by the health authorities was stopped. As for the administrative staff, they opted for teleworking and closing public service offices, attending to reasons of prevention and health security.
Currently, the company continues to adopt preventive measures and points out that the challenge now also has a lot to do with “raising awareness” both with regard to health in order to comply with the hygienic-sanitary measures established by the authorities, and to “care for the environment. ”For“ the correct disposal of masks and hygiene products ”.
Both Fermín Serrano and those responsible for Aquara have agreed on the importance of alliances and public-private collaboration to promote a green reconstruction that allows overcoming the current crisis and tackling a just environmental transition that generates employment and wealth in the territory.
